U16 is scheduled to play Collera/Strandhill in the Shield play off on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm in Scarden.

Hard luck to the U14 boys who lost out in the Semi final against St. Mary’s on Friday evening last.

It was a close contest but wasn’t to be with a final score of 3:12 to 2:18.

Senior team had a great win against St. Michael’s  on Saturday evening in Corran Park Ballymote in round 3 of the intermediate championship. The quarter final is Saturday evening the 9th September against St. Farnan’s at 8:00pm in Tourlestrane. Come out and support the team.

Ladies couch to 5k eight weeks for beginner running programme, starts in Bunnanadden Park with registration on Thursday the 21st September at 8:00pm €30.00 per person. Programme commences Tuesday the 26th September at 7:30 to 8:30pm and every Tuesday and Thursday there after.

It started well playing with the wind in the first half going into a 5 point lead to 3. At half time they led by 7 points to 5. Drumcliffe were getting a head of steam and at the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 9 points all. In the last quarter the fitness of Drumcliffe showed through and the scored a few good points without replay. A very entertaining game and well done to Drumcliffe.

U14 meet St. Mary’s in the semi final of the championship on Friday next 1st September in Bunnanadden Community Park. This is a repeat of the league final when these teams met before and Bunnanadden/Ballymote  came out victorious. Please come out and support this talented hard working team.

Bunnanadden seniors lost out to Shamrock Gaels in round 2 of the Intermediate Championship on Saturday evening last the 19th August. A score of 1:16 to 0:12.

Despite the weather conditions the club held a very successful skills school last week all children had a great time. Thanks to our coaching officer Paul Keirns for helping out for the three days, also to Siobhan Doddy, Eileen Gallagher and Louise Killoran. Thanks also to Sylvester McGuire and his coaches for their excellent work with the children.

The club and minor team would like to send it’s best wishes and a speedy recovery to Cian Brett who sustained an injury last week, looking forward to seeing him on the field of play soon.

Bunninadden got their Intermediate championship campaign off to a successful start with satisfactory 11 point win against Castleconnor in Tourlestrane on Sunday evening last.

In perfect conditions on an excellent playing surface both sides got into their stride early. Vinny Frizzell at number 14 for Bunninadden was getting a good supply of ball in the inside line and alongside championship debutant Cian Brett was a real threat. Half way through the opening period we struck for the first goal of the game when Niall O’Donnell broke clear from centre forward and finish with aplomb. Castleconnor to their credit didn’t let it affect them and continued winning a fair share of ball in the midfield exchanges but struggled at times to convert good possession into scores. A theme throughout the game was the high fielding of both teams notably Adrian Frain in green who fetched a few excellent kick-outs from the boot of keeper Danny Cafferkey in an entertaining duel with Castleconnor man Ciaran Kilcullen. We went in a few points up at the break but with plenty of work still to do.

The second period began with a quick exchange of points at either end before Michael Gormley, Cian Brett and Vinny Fizzell helped extend Bunninadden’s lead. Flowing moves with some excellent hand passing and link play saw us carve open the Castleconnor defence twice in the middle of the second period and resulted in well taken goals for both veteran Ross McManus and youngster Rory O’Dowd. There was now clear daylight between the teams and substitutes Oisin McDonnell and David Williams got in on the scoring act with neatly taken points.

Castleconnor never stopped plugging away and were it not for some wayward finishing at times would certainly have been much closer on the scoreboard when they did hit the net with a goal of their own late on. Overall Bunninadden manager John O’Flaherty will be happy with his teams opening outing but will know there is plenty of room for improvement. The defence anchored by Stephen Anderson were solid throughout but sterner tests lie ahead. As mentioned above there was some excellent possession won in the middle third but Castleconnor also had plenty of joy in this area so this is something to work on for the next day. The attack functioned well but some good chances, notably for goals were squandered which on another day might prove more costly.

Our next outing is versus Shamrock Gaels in Ballymote next weekend.

U12 had a great win in the semi final of the shield against St. Molaise Gaels in Grange on Tuesday evening last. After going down 5 points to 1 in the first quarter they found their feet and went on to play some great football. Lead up front by Dara Brehony who had a very good game at full forward. Thomas Sweeney also had a great game up front. Eoin Frain got some great frees and was winning good ball at mid field helped by Ben Clavin who was full of running. Mathew Gallagher was minding the net with great saves and kick outs. A great overall team performance. They play Drumcliff/Rossespoint in the final on Tuesdayevening 22nd August in Markievicz Park. Minor team played Curry on Thursday evening last in the first round of the championship. With a very high intense game from start to finish. Unfortunately lost out to a last minute goal by Curry having been up by two points, final score 2:19 to 2:18.

Well done to the senior team who played Castleconnor on Sunday evening last in the first round of the championship in Tourlestrane. Final score 3:13 to 1:08. The second round is in Corran Park Ballymote on Sunday evening next against Shamrock Gaels at 5:30pm

The club would like to wish our senior player David Williams the best of luck who is getting married on Friday next to Carmel Flood. Wishing them both a long life of health and happiness together.

Bunnanadden GAA are hosting a Gaa skills school on Monday the 21st August to Wednesday the 23rd from 10am to 3pm. Lots of sporting activities also arts and crafts. Cost per child €20 and family €50. Well done to our u14 team on a win over Curry in the 1st round of the championship on Friday last with a score line of 4:11 to 2:11. This was a typical championship type of game with no side holding back on their endeavour to win this game. A big thank you to all the support last Friday.

U18 Sheild semi final took place on Tuesday evening last in Bunnanadden Community Park, unfortunately due to a strong Tubbercurry/Cloonacool team it was not to be. The game ended with a score of 1:12 to 3:16.

Senior team played St. John’s away on Sunday. A close contest game, being level at half time with a score of 1:06 to 1:06. With fifteen minutes to go St. John’s pulled away with some fine scores, leaving the game with a final score of 2:07 to 1:16.

U12 played St. Molaise Gaels on Tuesday evening last the first team won with a score of 23 points to 17, while the second team were beaten.

The Senior team played Owenmore Gaels on Sunday which was an important win with a score of 2:21 to 1:03. The team Intermediate league statues is secure after this victory. Well done to all.

CLUB RESULTS

U16 lost out in the U16 Division 1 league Shield semi final against Coolera/Strandhill on Monday last with a score of 5:07 to 2:11.

The U14 team are the Division 1A league Champions after defeating a strong St. Mary’s side by 3:14 to 2:13. This game was played at a high tempo from start to finish with excellent individual and team scores. They went in at half time 1 point up, the second half was a tense affair with the game in the melting pot right up to the last minute. This group of lads showed some fantastic skills and guts in taking this title. Well done to each and everyone of the 24 players on this achievement.
